Jaci had really taken her time to get ready for this. Her old wedding dress was still gorgeous and suited her perfectly. The hair extensions were barely visible as such when braided and she had even applied some makeup like her sire had once taught her. It didn't really go with the rest of the theme and she didn't really like it, but felt she had to, at least for tonight. The museum was well organised and the exhibits both varied and well documented. Now all that remained was to see if someone would show up.

Suddenly a wild James appeared, in a rather casual get up no less, a long coat, what was effectively a glorified motorcycle jacket, and blue jeans. Not exactly suited for the occasion one might say. He did however seem to be almost transfixed on the art pieces the moment he walked in, endlessly curious and in-satiated. So much so, that he almost forgot the guy, girl? Someone in a fun looking dress. Looks like they were here as a welcoming guide. Why not say hello?
"Oh hello there, I'm a little lost, ever so sorry, would you know where the main exhibits section is? And I'm so sorry but I have to say I LOVE the dress. Something special for opening night?"
He gave Jake a smile so innocent that it would probably be considered Kryptonite for someone of his demeanour.

Jaci smiled, not something she often did. "My wedding dress." She replied. "The exhibit is divided in three parts; in the hall to the left you have paintings and sculptures, to the right we have hand crafted every-day items and straight on you will see clothing and jewellery. " She handed him a brochure. "I'm Jaci [Sha-see], by the way. Please, let me know if I can assist you at all."

James's cheeks almost seemed to flush at the sound of it being her wedding dress.
"Awwwww, that's so sweet! Must be a lucky guy."
He poked down into his brochure for a moment and turned to so he was at Jaci's side.
"I think..."
"...I'll check out the art and sculptures section first..."
He then looked at Jaci up and down in a rather flirtatious fashion.
"...Then I'll check out the clothing and jewellery section..."
"You wouldn't be able to show me around would you...."

What was this? Was he coming on to her? Even though she had all but told him she was married? Yingwese really didn't care about anything but themselves. But as she looked at him she changed her mind. Maybe he didn't mean it like that and was just being nice. Was it possible? Could one of those people actually be nice with no ulterior motives? It really didn't reel like the guy was trying to be malicious, and making a scene here would not be a good idea...
Jaci smiled. "Unfortunately I have to hostess, at least while people are arriving, but I will be around. I do hope you enjoy yourself."

James look slightly saddened that he wouldn't be getting a personal tour, but he was happy enough to have simply met another kind soul. James could see why she was married. She seemed like a catch for sure. He tilted his head back slightly as he sighed in mock tragedy.
"Awwww~ Ah, well. I'll go check out the exhibits and maybe we'll run into each other later. The name's James by the way. Was nice meeting you!"
And with that, James gave Jaci the sweetest smile she had seen all week, and started bounding his way over to the arts and sculptures section.

The paintings were all done in the same, simple style but each and every one had a plaque detailing its' religious significance. There were paintings depicting various creation myths and mythological elements, the history of the first man, the origin of language and much more. The sculptures however, even though depicting similar stories as well as the guardian spirits of the world, were significantly more complex in style whether done in wood, stone or clay. (Showing just a few examples)

James stared intently at the paintings and their inherent differences to the sculptures themselves. It seemed fairly clear to him that the differing purposes of these pieces has altered the complexity of their work. Perhaps the sculptures had more spiritual importance? It would make sense. James was drawing parallels between these sculptures and the statues of the Mary from Catholicism, and the great statues of ancient Mediterranean Pagan religions. These ones weren't nearly as ostentatious though. More humble and ascetic, based on the materials used, also more naturalistic and... Holistic. It's interesting the subtle hints an individual can pick up from a culture by witnessing their art.
James stared and muttered to himself as he looked at the pieces. So little used to create, no gold or obscure jewellery but so beautiful. So much heart poured into this work, this culture, and we had almost wiped it out in it's entire... No grand display was needed to convey the the soul that lay within these pieces, and James begins to slip into a trance...
At this point Jaci may have begun to notice James starting to act somewhat strangely over the course of the next hour. He never left the room, despite that he said he would. And he seemed utterly awed by everything in the room with glossy eyes. But he eventually came to focus on one sculpture in particular. Once involving what appeared to be spiritual figure of some kind, the woman who's hands made a bowl of some sort, guarding, or hoarding, animals.
Then Jaci would notice something particularly shocking, at least to most gallery owners. James reached out to touch the exhibit.
Self-Control Roll: 1D10 => 6 1D10 => 6 1D10 => 8
James begins to feel a jolt at the back of his head. An annoying pinging sound breaking his bliss.
"DON'T TOUCH THE EXHIBITS JAMES."
He froze. As much as he liked doing the right thing, sometimes he hated his brain.
He slowly began to pull back his hand. The glossy look in his eyes fading and his pupils refocusing as colour began to fade from his skin, and he began to feel cold again. Suddenly, to Jaci, James looked very much like every other moving dead thing she'd seen before. His respiration had stopped, and he looked white as a sheet. But James had caught on to what had happened, and colour seemed to return to his skin barely half a minute after it had gone, and his breathing had restarted.
"...Goddamnit James... Keep it together... It's not yours..."

Jaci was still welcoming guests but she did pay extra attention to James, since his behaviour had surprised her to begin with. She herself was no stranger to being entranced by something beautiful but she hadn't thought...
She walked over and put a hand on his arm. "It is beautiful, perhaps you will take the advice of a kindred spirit, and have a look at something not quite so enchanting? If only for appearances."

James could not have felt more horrible. Now he can't appreciate anything beautiful? He has to surround himself with the dull and the miserable? Must he shunt anything with joy from his life? It wasn't fair!
"But... Why make something beautiful if it can't be appreciated... I should... see..."
"...I'm sorry...."
"Kindred Spirit... Could... Could we talk later then? In more privacy I mean. I'd like to get to know you. I don't know many people in the all night society..."
He looked at her with teary-eyes. He almost looked lost in his own guilt.

Jaci wasn't sure how to respond. This truly was new to her. The guy didn't seem to be trying to use her or order her about at all.
"Of course art should be enjoyed. Some of us are more susceptible to it however and must be careful not to stick out too much."
She smiled. A genuine smile of pure joy, for the first time in a great long while.
"That would be nice. If you're not busy when this little event is over, then we can talk. In the meantime, might I suggest you try the exhibition on the right-hand side, seen from the entrance, I am certain you will find it quite interesting."

James seemed to perk up a little bit and let out a small smile.
"Yeah... Yeah I guess you're right... I'll go check out t you wanted to show me, but it was nice talking to you. We'll talk later, here's my number if you want to find me!"
He hands her a piece of paper with his number on it and smiles
"See ya' in a bit!"

The exhibit in the hall Jaci pointed James too was different. No item could have been described as beautiful but they were interesting nonetheless.
One stuck out, a woven reed-basket with a dark pattern on it. The interesting thing was that by the basket was a fountain of water and a sign that read "Feel free to fill the basket".
Seeing as how museums usually tried to get you to not touch the exhibits, this made the basket quite interesting.

"Wow, cool!"
James was amazed, he could finally switch off his brain and TOUCH an exhibit, which he did so with joy. He filled the basket with the fountain water to see what would happen.
As he filled it his eyes flitted back to Jaci every now and then with childish glee, though he found it hard to look at her in the eye. He was a little embarrassed to have caused such a scene, but she had been so sweet to him.

The basket was truly exceptional for a reed-weave item. As James filled it with water, none was spilled. Every single drop remained inside the basket no matter if it was lifted well out of the water source. The weave was simply tight enough to hold water.
Jaci was still greeting visitors but every now and then she would glance in James's direction and smile. She never would have thought a yingwese could be genuinely nice, seemingly without expecting anything in return.
