It was late in the evening at the Precinct, when Jake Yuki would receive a summons to the on-shift Captain's office.
Within this office stood the Captain, with the slender, delicate looking frame of Anna seated within the Captain's chair, behind his desk. "Detective," the Captain said, "our resident CSI and Mortuary worker wanted to have a word with you..." he said quietly, glancing over to Anna.
Anna smiled and motioned towards the door, which the Captain promptly stepped through and closed behind himself, "Jake... sit..." she said softly, the nervousness and wavering of her voice that had been present during their previous meeting wasn't there, the firmness in her still soft voice suggesting it wasn't merely an offer, "I understand you've recently transferred here and are doing good work within the department of the city..."
She nodded gently, "good... I further understand that you have been working well with Detective Perolta. I wish you to continue this good relationship - understood?" The tone left little to the imagination if it wasnt.
But then she continued, "I also want you to cease investigation into the wolf that Izzy currently has you tracking. It is not an issue you should concern yourself with any more. Further from this, though, consider yourself an ally of mine if you follow my suggestions. You will join me and together we will keep a close watch on the other neonates, waiting for inevitable lapses in intelligence, which we shall swiftly clean for them... this is what I do. What I'd your opinion?"
Direct orders to work with that kiinuk giizos? Shaazhiibs! Jake knew he didn't really have a choice though. The wolf was a downer however, he'd been looking forward to that. "Yes ma'am." He replied reluctantly. "I hope you have some work suited to my abilities? Since you want me to lay off the wolf..." His voice was hopeful
"I'll find something..." she said, almost cryptically, leaning back in the Captain's chair. She paused a moment, studying the man across from her, as though staring through to where his soul should be, but alas there must surely be nothing there, "I want you to work alongside Peralta... He was my man on the floor - I want you to do the same thing he is doing. Pick up the cases that are potential breaches. Continue being yourself so that nobody wants to work with you. Assist me in maintaining the masquerade."
There was another pause before she asked, "any questions?"
Jake was not deaf to what she had implied, that he was a person no one wanted to be around. He didn't much care but she seemed almost to be... enjoying it. That's what he got for being himself, well, he'd chosen Independence because of its' isolation from the rest of the Camarilla, out here it was easier to be truly neutral. Let the politicians play their little games, he'd play along, for now. He stood to attention. "No ma'am." he answered, and waited to be dismissed. He truly needed some time to himself. Otherwise he might end up doing something he shouldn't.
